CPE Activation Test and Report

CPE Activation Test seeks to find out the link throughput in both directions and report the test results.


Test methodology

The test follows RFC2544 methodology. The test runs UDP traffic of multiple streams in one direction, it is run multiple times and use binary search to find the sustained throughput where there is 0% packet loss. The test is then repeated in the reverse direction to find the throughput in this direction.


The test takes 4 to 8 minutes of time to complete.


Note. Running this test while there are live customer traffic could impact their user experiences.


Run the activation test

To run the test,


  1. Select the CPE device.

  2. At the drop down menu at Actions, select Start Activation Test.

  3. Select an IP address in a region that is closer to your CPE device. Current options are us-east-1 or us-west-1. If the CPE device is located in US east coast, select us-east-1.

  4. Click Start Test


Retrieve test report


The test takes 4 to 8 minutes to complete.


To retrieve the test report,


  1. CPE device that was under test.

  2. At the drop down menu at Actions, select Retrieve Activation Test Report

  3. If the test is still in progress, you will be informed to try again.

  4. If the test is complete, you can preview and download the report. Below is a sample test report.
